Scientia. Journal of the Italian Society for the History of Science publishes contributions in the history of science, technology, and techniques, embracing the full range of historiographical approaches developed in recent decades. The journal is issued twice a year, both in print and in open access via this platform, and accepts articles in both Italian and English.

In addition to traditional research articles, Scientia offers in-depth explorations of various approaches to teaching the history of science, as well as studies and initiatives aimed at enhancing and preserving Italy’s rich scientific and historical heritage. The journal also includes biographical profiles of scientists and technical experts active in Italy, along with reviews of books, exhibitions, and thematic projects in the field of the history of science.
The journal is published in accordance with the guidelines outlined by the Regulations for the Classification of Journals in Non-Bibliometric Areas issued by the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR).

About Us
The Italian Society for the History of Science (Società Italiana di Storia della Scienza – SISS) is a non-profit cultural association, founded in Pisa at the Domus Galilaeana on 10 November 1982. Since 2021, its registered office has been located at the Museo Galileo in Florence.
SISS promotes scholarly research in the history of science and technology, broadly understood in both thematic and chronological terms, and encourages dialogue not only within the academic sphere but also in wider educational and civic contexts. The Society supports initiatives aimed at the study, preservation, and dissemination of tangible and intangible heritage—including libraries, archives, museums, and landscapes—directly or indirectly related to the history of science and technology.
